WCET – the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies – is the leader in the practice, policy, & advocacy of digital learning in higher education. WCET is a member-driven nonprofit which brings together colleges, universities, higher education organizations, and companies to collectively advance learner access and success through postsecondary digital learning for a more equitable world.

WICHE (Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education) is a regional, nonprofit organization. Membership includes the 15 western states and the U.S. Pacific Islands and Freely Associated States. WICHE and its member states and territories work to improve access to higher education and ensure student success. Their student access programs, regional initiatives, and strategic research and policy work allow us to assist constituents throughout the West and beyond. WCET is a unit of WICHE.

WCET is a membership-based organization with institutional, organizational, or corporate memberships. For a single, organization wide membership fee, any administrator, staff, faculty, or student can take advantage of WCET resources and benefits. Learn more about joining WCET. MIX (previously wcetMIX) is the digital community platform shared between WCET and SAN. Here, WCET members discuss important topics and ideas and WCET staff and members share news, announcements, articles, and events. MIX is where we house member-only resources, including topic overviews, such as the WCET Closer Look guides.

MIX groups are reserved for WCET members, members of the State Authorization Network (SAN), event registrants, and may also be used for other invitation-only groups. Learn more about MIX and join WCET’s member communities.

Members can participate in moderated discussions that take place between members in the DISCUSS Community directly from their email or by logging into the MIX community platform.

wcetNEWS and wcetDISCUSS are online communities housed in WCET’s virtual platform, MIX.

wcetNEWS is a member-only community and email list used to distribute WCET’s weekly member newsletters, which include the article digest, job postings from WCET members, announcements, breaking news of general interest to our members, and our ever-popular movie reviews.

wcetDISCUSS is a moderated discussion community reserved for WCET members. The list puts you in touch with higher education professionals from institutions and organizations in the U.S. and internationally. Have a question about how others address a policy issue or about design solutions to certain digital learning or educational technology challenges? This community is a quick and easy way to access ideas and get input from your peers. You can participate in discussions by sending emails to wcetDISCUSS. You can also create an account and log in to our online platform to participate.

WCET dues cover a 12-month period and begin at $1,025 for small companies, to $10,000 for Supporting Members. View the WCET membership dues page for additional information and a table of membership dues by organizational type.

The Supporting Member level of membership is for those institutions, organizations, and corporations that wish to make an additional investment and support WCET’s mission to advance the effective use of technology for teaching and learning. Supporting membership emphasizes an institution or organization’s commitment to WCET. As a thank you, WCET provides Supporting Members with additional recognition, invitations to exclusive events, and opportunities to contribute to WCET communications or publications.

Both sponsorship and membership are open to corporations, institutions, and organizations and span 12-months. Sponsorship underwrites WCET’s events and programs and provides valuable visibility to your brand. Sponsorship levels range from $3,775-25,000. WCET members receive a one-time discount on sponsorship packages and à la carte pricing without a sponsorship package is available to WCET Members. Membership is not tied to funding events and programs but is instead meant to help us create and develop a professional community of those working, researching, and interested in higher education digital learning.

An annual investment provides access to resources, content, and a vast community of innovators and practitioners in higher education. Everyone within your organization receives access to the member community, just-in-time resources, access to events, and invitations to member-only policy updates and events.

Membership extends to everyone within your organization. The value of WCET is in the community, so the more people involved, the greater the perspectives and expertise for all to access.

Membership is at the organizational level; individual memberships are not available.

Digital learning is a broad look at the landscape of learning in higher education that can be and is enhanced by technology. It is not only online learning or simply bringing a piece of technology into a physical classroom, but rather encompasses how technology embeds into the DNA of learning to change opportunity, access, and promote competency in higher education.

The State Authorization Network (SAN) is a membership-based division within WCET. SAN guides, supports, and facilitates the collaboration of its members to navigate state and federal regulatory compliance for out-of-state activities of postsecondary institutions.

WCET and SAN offer different membership benefits and require separate membership contracts for each institution or organization. Members who join WCET receive a discount on SAN membership dues.
